I have a little discussion group that meets in Daylesford in country Victoria called THINK
We are a group of thought leaders who shamelessly THINK way too much about the way the world is and could be.
I’ve posted the 5 questions below that one of our members put to the group and I would love you to post your thoughts to the questions.
Obviously there is no right or wrong answers just thought provoking.
My thoughts to the group was that in a world where natural therapies are
being used fully there would be no sickness so the continued need for
things like hospitals and old folks homes would be obsolete. Then what
would we do with all those well healthy people that kept living and how
would we manage all those people who work in the sickness and war
industry, let alone all the innocent people who earn their living from
the opposite of peace (police, army, navy, low socioeconomic groups like
the people on the factory floors making guns). In a true peaceful
environment no one would be sick because everyone would be seeing a
natural therapist to keep them well – I’d love your thoughts on that
concept too.
Here are the five questions we answered last week
- What is the single most important change in thinking that can help move our society toward greater wellbeing?
- To create this change in thinking, a few key messages must penetrate the collective -- what would these messages be?
- How can we best work to foster new thought patterns that can then manifest as changes in our society?
- What would prosperity look like in a more balanced society where material and spiritual development go hand-in-hand?
- As we seek to envision a more sustainable society, what would it look like?
One of the THINK members, Dr Mary Faeth Chenery is currently at the
Global Peace Initiative of Women in California at a gathering called
The Role of Contemplative Practice in Transforming Society and will be returning to our group at the end of the month to discuss how the world group answered these questions. We hope to have figured out how we might Skype that meeting so you can join in if you choose.
Peace seems like a massive leap from where the world is now – but everything starts with a thought and the more we discuss and think about it – the closer it comes.
Details of the next THINK event are
here - would love you to come
