Is it disempowering to have someone give me a Blessing?.

I am a member of the Oneness movement that is growing everyday. There are now millions of people world wide that now receive a Oneness Blessing. And yet the biggest complaint I hear is that people think it is dis-empowering to be in a position where we need someone else to give us a blessing of Divine Grace.
After 40 years on a Spiritual path it is clear to me that I can get very close to God with meditation, prayer, etc but at some stage I need to drop my ego beliefs, let go and surrender. This is hard for the western mind to be willing to give over to a higher power than one's self and yet at some stage we must all let go and take the empty handed jump into the void. If we do not then we will always be out in the snow looking through the window into the warmth of Gods love..
For me the Oneness Movement gives a hands on experience of Divine love. The Blessing is not just talk but a direct and tangible first hand experience of Grace.

What is the one thing that people need to stay open to allowing the Divine to turn up ?
