The Art of Emotional Expression...

I've learnt, yet again, the importance of listening to your body. With three little kiddies (3 y.o. twins and an almost 5 y.o.) I'm pretty busy. We all are. Except kids. Kids are smart. When they're tired, they sleep. When they're sick, they demand TLC. When they're happy, they're running around like mad monkeys!

What's their secret? They have an open heart for emotional expression. Kids really ARE the best teachers. And we were teachers too, remember....we were kids a LONG time ago… Continue

Hi Megan,

Thanks for dropping by and saying hi. Yep, I love what I do and facilitating womens rejuvenation workshops certainly doesn't seem like work.

Peace, love and chocolate

Well done you for getting out there - you are being truly remarkable!!

Why ruin a good story with the truth I say - I remembered the stage curtains, must have felt more dramatic than chair covers My lovely friend Jeffrey has a set of stage curtains called the "Glamour Curtains" and they always get dragged out when he wants to do his show tunes - I think it was all too easy to convince me that your top was once glam stage curtains in a past life! :-)

Good to hear from you and to have you as a friend on Weekend Workshops. Looking forward to hearing how your children's sewing workshops go - such a cool idea and such a wonderful expression of you and your passion out in the world - if the pink curtains you had on at Utopia was anything to go by - watch out world here comes Megan!!

Hear you soon

Luv Mz M xx

Hey Megan I think this is great. My Mum brought us an old Singer sewing machine when I was 12 and my sister 10. She gave us fabric and patterns and said sew your own clothes, she worked dressmaking for people so was a wonderful teacher (sometimes very strict - unpicking). I loved the freedom it gave us, though I often visualised things on my body which didn't quite look that way. My favourite was the white vynal long coat and hotpants. I haven't had time to teach my kids like that but I think it's wonderful for their creativity and self-esteem. So have fun, I'm sure it will be popular. See you soon at Utopia. Love Sue xx

Hi Everyone! I've been INSPIRED (again... hehehe) to facilitate childrens sewing workshops for 8 - 12 year olds who have an inkling of an interest to become a bodiaciously creative, self sufficient young adults. The course intention is to teach students to embrace their own uniqueness & appreciate that true beauty comes from within and in all shapes, forms & sizes.

As a teenager I had a penchant to starve myself on 1 1/2 meals a day to fit into a size 8 & to get the thumbs up from the opposite sex.

From 8 years old, I feel that they are keen and ready to handle a machine from which they can create their dreams. I am currently teaching an 8 year old friend of mine who is home-schooled and she's embracing it & our time together is my practise ground for developing these fun, short courses.

If kids can learn to how to make clothing for themselves and be comfortable with their bodies as it is right now rather than aim for unrealistic images that the old TV & magaizes send out, I feel that they'll manage the transition from Tween to Teen to Adult with great ease.

In true Bubba Lou style, there are NO ZIPS or BUTTONS, just groovy easy wearing funky garments that are Tween Proof.

These workshops are for boys too.... :-)

Any ideas or words of wisdom for me?! :-)
